1) This was the most expensive haircut and color I have ever paid for in my life. 2) It was also the WORST CUT I have ever had. I had high hopes as this place really went overboard to let you know they were a "high-dollar", "ultra hip" salon. (I spent $230, about $75 more than at my regular stylist who does magazine shoots and was out of town doing one at the time.) Maybe if I had been done by David himself it would have turned out better BUT I got a Supercuts deal on this one! I should have known that stylists who take walk ins are often avail as they are the least experienced on staff with little clientele base. Linh was nice enough and did a fine job with my color, HOWEVER...this girl did NOT know how to layer fine, long hair! I have since had two other stylists look at my cut and both were amazed how she could use such an inappropriate technique for my type of hair. In an attempt to layer my fine, mostly one length tresses and give them body, she used thinning shears/one sided comb-shears ( about 6"- 10") from the bottom of my length. Instead of pulling my hair out horizontally and cutting straight across the ends at a 45 degree angle, so they hair is layered and falls in a graduated manner she simply cut out huge sections of hair all over my mane to lessen its weight in an attempt to give it body. While this technique does work with wiry hair types I was told, to do so with fine hair results in disaster- and I can attest to that! I left the salon feeling great as she had curled and styled my tresses BUT after the first wash I saw the DISASTER that was now my 18" long hair! Her thinning technique did NOT add body at all but instead made my fine hair so thin in the length that my ponytail was all of 1/2 thick at the bottom! It looked horrible unless I spent time hot rolling my hair to conceal the poor layering job. Even drying with a round brush and thickening product, the cut looked just AWFUL. It looked hacked....and that is just what it was.
Pros: Ambience...which you pay for! Rent must be sky high so no wonder they charge what they do.
Cons: Price. I have had a salon experience AND CUT for less money elsewhere.

I was tired of working so hard to make my hair look stylish and essentially wore it back in a ponytail everyday. David was a good listener and HONEST about what it would take for me to get cool and functional style. Then, he did a fantastic makeover on my hair. I went from ponytail to hair that looks great styled many ways with minimal effort. My husband LOVES it and says it's the best haircut I've ever gotten. To quote "it's hip, sassy and shows off your face and neck perfectly".

I recently had my hair cut and highlighted by David Perez at Salon David Perez. He was able to convenience me with a same day appointment which was great and my hair turned out wonderful. It was the first time I’d ever had it cut short. He did a fantastic job and I have gotten many compliments from it this week.
Pros: Wonderful Salon

"I am very picky about my hair, and I love this salon. The staff is very friendly, and David has an expert feel for hair. I was having issues with my color because I'm in the ocean a lot, and he knew just what to do. I get my hair cut, colored, and styled there, and it looks gorgeous every time."

David takes the stress away! It took me forever to get find someone that can color AND cut hair in this town!!! David is a master at both. It is great to be able to go to a salon and get top-notch services in every area. If you need waxing services, Midia is a pro!

I went in looking for a new style and David had just the style for me! He matched a great color with my skin tone and a cut that accentuated my face and eyes. It was perfect!

I went to the salon for the first time today and have come out loving my new look. I have been looking to update my look for awhile and have been checking online reviews and best rated salons in the La Jolla area. A few months ago I went to Deeringer and came out of there with highlights I couldn't even see and a hair cut that was exactly the same as I had when I came in. In my quest to find a stylist that would really know how to give me a fresh new look I found the David Perez Salon today, and think I will be a regular client for long time to come. When I showed up, David sat down and really listened to what I wanted in terms of a new look and then began the transformation. I had over 6 inches cut off and traded my long locks for a short, sassy, look, with hair color, highlights, that I just love. I highly recommend this place for anyone who is looking for an updated hair look and great color and highlight results. Thanks David!!

I have tried stylists all over California, and have never been as consistently thrilled with anyone as much as David Perez. He not only listens closely to what you want, but also will be honest with you about what will look good on you given your face shape, coloring and hair type. After over 20 years of having long hair, I decided this week I was ready for a big change, and this morning David cut off more than 9 inches of hair. He gave me an amazing cut and style, and made me feel so comfortable throughout the whole process. Everyone that leaves his styling chair looks like they just walked out of a fashion magazine. I highly recommend him to anyone wanting a fantastic cut, color and/or style!!
Pros: Skill, atmosphere, friendliness, very flexible appointment schedule (open 7 days a week)
Cons: There aren't more David's around!

So I got a terrible haircut early during the day and was in desperate need of getting it fixed in time for my one year anniversary with my boyfriend. So I walked into this salon and David said he already knew what to do to fix my hair when he just looked at it. Although it was a little pricey for a college student, this was definitely the best hair cut ever! I'm going back tomorrow to get one of the products he used on my hair.
Pros: Service, Skills, Ambience
Cons: Price
