Editorial Review for Whisknladle – by Maren Dougherty and Erin Chambers
In Short
From the large patio in front full of garden-like tables, Whisknladle still shows signs of it's past life as "ladies-who-lunch" mecca, Fresh. But one glimpse of the sleek new bar and lounge zone with pendant lighting and shiny white ottomans, and we're reminded of its new life as simple, hip, neighborhood spot for drinks and food. Owner Arturo continues to work with chef Ryan on the slow food-focused menu, compiled of mostly local and sustainably produced produce. Standout appetizers include a tangy beet and tangerine salad, smokey grilled asparagus and rotating soups made fresh daily. Lunch and dinner menus vary widely, from homemade papardelle pasta with bolognese sauce to Niman Ranch hanger steak to chorizo and date fritters.

ate here fri nite.there were 5 of us & we ea ordered salads to start w & ea had entrees &bottle of wine w 2 rounds of drinks while waiting for table.food was ok but we were treated pretty bad.we were there til almost closing time.we were sittin at the left side of the restaurant in table in corner &there was noone else left on that side when we were leaving.as we got up to leave, our table was being cleared already by the busboy.there was noone else left in the restaurant except for a table of 2 at the complete opposite side of the restaurant and our table was not even within view from where they were sitting.we were about 5 minutes out the door when we realized that we left our camera.we went back into the restaurant right away &the busboy &waiter deny seeing anything. then they started to question whether we even had a camera or not to begin w & THEY EVEN TOOK OUR PICTURE.for the camera to be gone so soon after us leaving the restaurant then its only obvious that the restaurant's own staff stole the camera..AND there was no one else left eating when left!!!! we spent alot of money at that restaurant &manager defended his own stealing employees without acknowledging that as customers that paid for a service at his own place we suffered from a loss. this never happ in NY of all places.&here,in the service industry, where u should advocate for the customer,we suffered from the wrongs of his own employees dont even get an "i am sorry that this happened in my restaurant i'll do all i can to help" nothing comforting or helpful whatsoever. a manager that doesnt place his customers as priority to me is reflective of someone who does not belong in a business whos sole purpose is to serve and deliver excellent service.&i wouldnt want to b supportive of a business that doesnt take care of its customers.bad behaviour of employees makes me question every aspect of the restaurant, if employees arent goin 2 respect its customers then can you imagine what happens in that kitchen?

My friends and I tried Whisk & Ladle on a recommendation from a friend. We arrived on a Friday night and sat out on the covered patio. We started by ordering one of the many unusual cocktails on the menu containing everything from lavender to chili peppers. The menu lists the dishes in order of light to heavy dishes. We ordered asparagus, spicy shrimp, flatbread pizza and mussels to start. Everyone was really happy with the variety and freshness of the dishes. I had butternut squash ravioli in a delicious rich and sweet sauce and others tried fish or steak dishes. We thought the ambiance and service was great.
